Recently, in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, Prime Minister Bektonov signed a government decree, officially allocating a special reserve fund of over 16.2 billion tenge. This fund will be fully invested in the two major infrastructure areas of urban water and electricity energy, filling the gaps in municipal support for this rapidly expanding capital. Behind the large-scale financial investment, from the reconstruction of sewage pipelines to the expansion of thermal power units, is a strong signal continuously released by the Central Asian infrastructure market.

8.7 billion tenge to reshape sewage pipeline network

Nearly half of the funds are used for the construction and renovation of water treatment systems. The core project includes the reconstruction of the main sewage collection channel from Yexil District to Lake Karabidaik in Akmola Oblast, and the simultaneous construction of a diversion pipeline network along the line, covering urban main roads such as Ulidara and Chingiz Aitmatov. After the completion of the project, the daily treatment capacity of the sewage treatment plant will reach 70000 cubic meters, stably carrying the drainage demand of 4500 hectares of catchment area, and clearing the municipal pipeline constraints for the expansion of the city.

7.5 billion tenge to expand power supply

The key focus of funds is to strengthen the power supply system in the capital. Construct a new enclosed Kalligash 110/20kV substation, connect it to the existing main power grid, and divert the load from the old substation; At the same time, the first steam turbine unit of Astana Energy No.2 Thermal Power Plant will be renovated, with the installed capacity increased from 80 MW to 110 MW and an additional 30 MW of stable power supply added. The newly added electricity will directly cover nearly 80000 residents, while supporting the construction of new public facilities such as schools and clinics. The Central Asian infrastructure market continues to heat up

This allocation is not an isolated case, but a microcosm of Kazakhstan's long-term expansion of national infrastructure. The rapid expansion of urbanization has generated massive demand for municipal supporting facilities. The national top-level strategy continues to provide bottom line investment, coupled with the iterative upgrading of the energy system and the positioning of the Central Asian regional hub. The three major tracks of water engineering, power equipment, and residential supporting facilities have released stable orders for a long time, providing clear entry opportunities for Chinese funded engineering, equipment, and building materials enterprises.Editor/Gao Xue
