Recently, on the edge of the Taklamakan Desert, in the Korla Shangku Industrial Park, the red light in the main control room of the Tarim Phase II ethylene project of Dushanzi Petrochemical turned green, and the feeding was successful once. On this once sandy desert, a 3 million ton ethylene industry base has been officially completed. As the first full chain green and low-carbon demonstration project in the domestic petrochemical industry, it not only broke the record for the construction of projects of the same scale within 22 months, but also pushed the ethylene industry from the steam era to the electrical era with multiple technological breakthroughs.

Three wheel drive rewrites the history of ethylene power
For the first time, the ethylene plant relies on its own core technology to convert all three core units, namely the cracking gas compressor, ethylene refrigeration compressor, and propylene refrigeration compressor, from traditional steam turbine drive to electric motor drive. This marks the first time that the domestically produced technology has achieved a fully electric drive scheme for the three units. This breakthrough significantly improves the electrification rate of device terminals, laying the equipment foundation for deep coupling of green electricity, and is a landmark leap for the ethylene industry from the steam era to the electrical era.

Localization rate of 99%
The overall localization rate of the project is 99%. Among the 11 main production units, 10 adopt domestic independent technology, 9 adopt China Petroleum's independent process, and 5 technologies have been industrially scaled up for the first time. Three sets of 450000 ton extrusion granulation units are all domestically produced, filling the gap in large-scale ethylene core equipment. The localization rate of core equipment exceeds 98%, and China's ethylene industry's independent technology has moved from single point breakthroughs to system integration. Building a new zero carbon paradigm through carbon capture
The project aims to build a low-carbon system for the entire chain of green electricity direct connection, carbon capture, blue hydrogen, blue ammonia, and green fertilizer. Annually consuming 1 billion kilowatt hours of clean photovoltaic power from the Tarim Oilfield, utilizing the first set of low concentration carbon dioxide capture and chemical utilization technology in China to directly convert industrial exhaust gas CO ₂ into products such as urea, achieving a cascade utilization of carbon resources. Synchronize the deep processing of natural gas and the deep stabilization of crude oil in Lunnan, integrate upstream and downstream, reduce carbon emissions by 1.37 million tons annually, and provide a green and low-carbon development model for the construction of zero carbon parks in the petrochemical industry.Editor/Gao Xue
