On July 18, 2026, the Harmony Ship loaded 50 energy storage containers and slowly left Xiamen Port, with the destination of Honduras, the the Belt and Road country. Thus, the total export value of energy storage containers from Xiamen Port in 2026 has officially exceeded 10 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of over 180% in export volume in the first half of the year. This long-distance cargo ship carries not only energy storage equipment, but also the competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing in the global energy transition wave.

From bottleneck to thoroughfare

Energy storage containers belong to Class 9 dangerous goods - with large volume, high energy density, and extremely strict requirements for logistics and warehousing. Xiamen Port has built four high standard refrigerated dangerous goods container yards with an annual processing capacity of over 132000 TEUs, ranking among the top in the country in terms of scale, effectively solving the temperature control problem of high-temperature transportation of lithium batteries in summer.

In terms of transportation capacity guarantee, Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration will take the lead in exploring a new mode of bulk cargo ship transportation in 2025. Currently, a dual transportation capacity guarantee system of container liner and bulk cargo ship has been established. By flexibly allocating port resources, the comprehensive logistics cost of a single voyage for enterprises has been reduced by 75%. Since 2026, the cumulative export of lithium battery products from Xiamen Port has exceeded 32000 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of over 50%. The export volume of lithium batteries from Xiamen Port has accounted for nearly 90% of the province's total, and fixed routes directly to North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia have been opened on a regular basis.

Orders scheduled until 2027

Behind the high export growth is the solid support of Xiamen's local new energy industry cluster. Haichen energy storage products have covered over 40 countries and regions worldwide, with orders scheduled until the end of 2027. By 2025, the output value of Xiamen's new energy industry will exceed 100 billion yuan. From Xiamen Tungsten New Energy's positive electrode materials to Ningde Times' billion dollar landing projects, a complete energy storage industry chain loop has been formed.
