As the core supporting project of Hanoi's westward expansion strategy, Metro Line 5 carries the important mission of relieving urban congestion and promoting regional development. Recently, the underground construction phase of the project has officially begun, with a team of Chinese enterprises using mature infrastructure technology to assist Vietnam in improving its rail transit network and consolidating the foundation of China Vietnam infrastructure cooperation.

Key construction implementation

The densely populated urban area of Hanoi has complex underground construction conditions and strict safety standards, making it a key and difficult area for rail transit construction. The launch of the underground continuous wall construction has completely opened the curtain for the construction of the underground section of Hanoi Metro Line 5, laying a solid foundation for the overall progress of the project.

It is reported that Hanoi Metro Line 5 has a total length of 39.58 kilometers and is equipped with 20 stations, including 13 ground stations, 6 underground stations, and 1 elevated station. The S3 station under construction this time is a two-story underground structure, approximately 220 meters long and 20 meters wide, constructed using the open cut and backfill method. The underground continuous wall constructed to support the station has a depth of about 42 meters and a wall thickness of 1 meter, which is the core barrier to ensure the safety, waterproofing, and stability of deep underground construction. The project adopts professional trenching equipment and mud treatment system, and steadily advances construction in different areas.

Strictly control construction safety

In response to the complex construction environment in urban areas, the project adheres to the principle of safety priority and builds a 24/7 intelligent monitoring system to monitor real-time data on settlement, tilt, displacement, and other factors of surrounding buildings, quickly addressing various construction hazards. At the same time, measures such as foundation reinforcement, load control, and standardized process management are taken to minimize the impact of construction on the lives of surrounding residents and existing buildings. The relevant person in charge of the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Committee in Vietnam stated that the successful launch of this key process is an important milestone in the construction of Metro Line 5, marking the project's transition from early preparation to substantive underground construction stage, and will provide strong support for the efficient progress of the entire line project in the future. After the completion of this line, it will connect the central area of Hanoi with the western satellite city, effectively alleviating regional traffic pressure and promoting the coordinated development of urban industries and population.Editor/Min Jing
