Recently, Pakistan's Minister of Maritime Affairs held high-level talks in Beijing with the Vice President of China Railway Electrification Engineering Group (CREC-EE). The two sides engaged in in-depth consultations regarding investment and technical cooperation in three key areas—railway electrification, port-logistics connectivity, and intelligent transportation systems—thereby defining the direction for upgrading transportation infrastructure under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.

During the meeting, CREC-EE expressed a strong desire to invest and establish a presence in Pakistan. Leveraging its extensive engineering expertise in electrified railways and intelligent transportation, as well as its rich experience in international projects, the company pledged to provide comprehensive technical support and engineering solutions to empower local infrastructure development. The parties reviewed potential projects one by one, focusing on strengthening transport links between ports and inland economic corridors; the goal is to enhance regional trade efficiency through infrastructure upgrades and unlock the corridor's economic potential.

The Pakistani Minister of Maritime Affairs noted that deepening collaboration with leading Chinese engineering firms is crucial for Pakistan to build an efficient, digitized transportation network. He emphasized that continuously improving transport links would revitalize the marine economy, strengthen competitiveness in foreign trade, and provide a solid foundation for long-term economic growth. He also outlined Pakistan's efforts to modernize ports and implement sustainable infrastructure, noting ongoing improvements to foreign investment access and the business environment, and welcomed active participation by Chinese enterprises in the country's infrastructure development.
