After ten years of negotiation and polishing, the cooperation between China and Thailand railways has achieved a key breakthrough. During Thai Prime Minister Anuntin's visit to China, the two countries finalized a new consensus on railway cooperation, clarifying the completion goals of the first phase and the cooperation plan for the second phase, clearing key obstacles for the construction of the Pan Asian Railway corridor.

Ten years of deep cultivation layout

The China Thailand railway cooperation has been under negotiation since 2014, continuously optimizing the route plan, coordinating financing and technical standards over the years, and ultimately determining a construction model to be promoted in two phases. The current phase of the project is steadily progressing. The two countries have reached a consensus to accelerate the construction progress of the first phase and strive to complete all construction tasks before 2030, laying a solid foundation for cross-border connectivity.

Phase II landing acceleration

Compared to the previous cooperation pace, this visit has made substantial breakthroughs, and both parties have officially determined the cooperation mode for the second phase of the project, clarifying that the project construction will be launched as soon as possible. The second phase of the project has been progressing slowly due to complex issues such as cross-border connectivity and cooperation mechanisms. The finalization of the plan marks a new stage of dual track parallel cooperation between China and Thailand railways. Keywords: China Thailand Railway, Cross border Infrastructure Cooperation

In addition, senior executives of Thailand's CP Group participated in the visit to China, and the three airport high-speed rail project led by them has attracted industry attention. However, the two sides have not yet announced the relevant cooperation content. At present, Thailand is comprehensively promoting railway modernization, improving high-speed rail and conventional rail transit networks, and continuously consolidating the foundation of regional connectivity.Editor/Min Jing
