The wind on the Silk Road caresses the minarets of Samarkand and gently touches the walls of Chang'an. When a yellowed Sogdian ancient letter quietly unfolds in a display cabinet in Beijing, it seems as if a millennium long time tunnel has been instantly opened. In this embassy hall that blends ancient and modern times, a new narrative about cultural dialogue is slowly unfolding with the fragrance of tea.

Recently, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China held an event on the theme of Uzbekistan China: Dialogue of Civilizations and Common Heritage. At the event site, the Uzbekistan Islamic Civilization Center released a cooperation plan to collaborate with multiple museums, research institutions, and cultural units in the country to carry out multi-level cross-border cooperation. Uzbekistan's Ambassador to China, Farkhod Alziev, attended the event and delivered a speech.

Event opening, planning cultural cooperation

Alziev stated in his speech that cultural exchanges are an indispensable part of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and China. Various cooperation projects in the fields of culture and technology continue to enrich the pragmatic connotation of the partnership between the two countries. Uzbekistan and China have established a new era all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership, with a long history of people to people exchanges between the two countries, forming close ties as early as the ancient Silk Road era.

Connecting ties to strengthen bilateral foundations

Alziev mentioned that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the relationship between Ukraine and China has steadily moved forward, and the scope of cooperation has continued to expand, covering multiple fields such as politics, security, economic and trade investment, and cultural exchanges. The long-standing historical and cultural connections create favorable conditions for cultural tourism interaction and personnel exchange. With the implementation of the mutual visa exemption policy, the number of direct flights between the two countries continues to increase, making travel more convenient for the public and promoting closer exchanges.

Make multiple efforts to expand the scope of cooperation

In the field of economy and trade, Alziev introduced that Ukraine and China are working together to promote multiple major joint investment projects, focusing on the layout of high-tech, new energy, chemical, equipment manufacturing, metallurgy, power, infrastructure upgrading and other industries. The first Ukraine China Local Cooperation Forum will be held in Urumqi in 2024, and the third forum will be held in Xi'an in May 2026, effectively promoting pragmatic cooperation between the two regions.

Alziev stated that Uzbekistan is located in the core area of the ancient Silk Road and has a rich history and precious cultural heritage. At present, the country's opening up to the outside world continues to accelerate, frequently hosting various high-level international conferences, and successively undertaking important activities of institutions such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, UNESCO, ADB, AIIB, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.Editor/Gong Ziwei
