Recently, after meeting with President Prabowo, Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bakhril Rahadalia announced that the first phase of the country's 100GW solar power plant project has been approved for implementation, and a groundbreaking ceremony will be held soon, personally presided over by President Prabowo.

According to the news, the project plans to have a total installed capacity of 100GW and is scheduled to be fully operational before 2029. In terms of installed capacity, it includes 80GW of distributed photovoltaic systems and 20GW of centralized photovoltaic power stations, with the distributed part planned to be deployed in 80000 villages and matched with energy storage systems. In terms of supporting energy storage, the initial planned total energy storage capacity is 145.8GWh, including 111GWh for large-scale power stations and 34.8GWh for distributed support. The project is expected to require an investment of approximately 71.3 billion US dollars. As of now, the cumulative installed capacity of photovoltaics in Indonesia is about 1.49 GW.

To ensure the progress of the project, the Indonesian government will prioritize the issuance of presidential regulations related to the 100GW project to provide legal certainty and accelerate the approval process. In terms of land, approximately 24000 hectares of suitable land have been implemented on Java Island. PLN has launched a 1.2GW Mentari Nusantara I photovoltaic tender, adopting the "bundling" procurement model for the first time.

The Indonesian Minister of Economic Affairs has publicly invited Chinese companies to participate in project investment and stated that the two countries have enormous potential on the basis of existing cooperation. The Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources stated that the project will significantly increase the proportion of renewable energy in Indonesia's energy structure, while providing power supply guarantees for remote islands and rural areas.Editor/Min Jing
