Relying on the core location advantage of the Eurasian continent, Kazakhstan continues to increase its transportation infrastructure. On August 3rd, Tokayev announced the start of construction on three strategic highways through video conferencing. By upgrading cross-border trunk lines and optimizing road network layout, it will further activate the potential of transit logistics and solidify its position as a regional hub.

Upgrading the road network

The project launched this time includes three key highways, among which the Beineu Sheksheule highway is 800 kilometers long and can connect the China Kazakhstan port to the Caspian Sea port channel, reducing the freight mileage between China and Europe by 1000 kilometers and shortening the transportation time by up to 3 days. In addition, two highways totaling 774 kilometers will be upgraded simultaneously, and all projects are planned to be completed before 2029. After completion, the regional freight capacity will be increased by 2.5 times, with an annual freight volume of 13.2 million tons, and more than 10000 job opportunities will be created. Hub level leap

In recent years, Kazakhstan's transportation and logistics construction has achieved remarkable results. By 2025, the national freight volume will reach 37 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6%. The revenue from road transportation will be 1.5 trillion tenge, and the road freight volume will double in the past five years. The country will complete the construction and maintenance of 13000 kilometers of highways within the year, 6000 kilometers have been put into use, and all highway border ports will be modernized before 2027.
