On the vast Sahara Desert, a heavy-duty railway crosses the Gobi Desert. The western railway mining line, which has already been opened to traffic, drives the transportation of minerals and travel along the line. Now that the construction of the three electricity projects has begun, it will fill the gaps in the intelligent operation of the railway and make this desert corridor more valuable.

Engineering construction is underway

The first desert heavy load railway in Africa, the mining line of the western railway in Algeria, has started the construction of communication signals and power systems. The total length of the railway is 950 kilometers, with CRCC and local state-owned enterprises jointly undertaking 575 kilometers, making it the largest infrastructure project of Chinese enterprises in Algeria. The project will be opened to traffic in February this year, supplementing the local railway network and improving the traffic conditions in the southwestern region. According to Dong Lin, General Manager of CRCC, this project covers 10 stations, 28 passing stations, and 4 centralized control centers. The work includes the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the entire system, as well as training for operation and maintenance personnel. Release the potential of the channel

This railway is a key infrastructure in Algeria, capable of transporting 50 million tons of iron ore annually after its opening, while also providing passenger services and facilitating the travel of people along the route.
