On August 9, 2026, Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel expressed gratitude to China for providing a new batch of 5000 sets of household solar energy equipment to Cuba, which has recently arrived in the country.   

According to reports, Diaz Canel posted on social media, "We sincerely thank the Chinese people and government for this good deed." According to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, the Chinese Embassy in Havana handed over 5000 sets of photovoltaic systems two days ago, which will be used to power residential areas in 169 towns in the country.

In November 2025, the Chinese government donated 5000 sets of photovoltaic systems to residents in eastern Cuba who were affected by the passage of Hurricane Melissa. According to reports, Cuba has experienced seven complete power outages in its national power system since 2026.
