On August 7, 2026, in the production workshop of Xinjiang Kunhua New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. in Yiwu County, Hami, a newly produced hydrogen fuel cell engine was ready to go. At the same time, within the 220 kV Tianshan Zhigu substation in Hami, tens of kilometers away, wind and photovoltaic power from the Naomaohu area are continuously being transmitted to the Tianshan Zhigu advanced computing cluster. From hydrogen powered heavy-duty trucks shuttling through the Gobi Desert to computing power servers roaring day and night, Hami is accelerating its transformation from a traditional energy base to an innovative highland driven by hydrogen powered computing power dual engines.

The hydrogen powered heavy-duty truck equipped with Kunhua Technology's hydrogen fuel cell engine has an operating cost of only 1.8 yuan per kilometer under standard load, saving 1 yuan compared to traditional diesel vehicles. Hami relies on the coal chemical industry and has the potential to produce 180000 tons of purified hydrogen gas for vehicles annually, forming a dual wheel drive pattern of green hydrogen and grey hydrogen. Four hydrogen refueling stations have been built in the city, with a daily refueling capacity of 18 tons, and 569 hydrogen fuel heavy trucks and 7 buses have been put into operation. Without government subsidies, the price of hydrogen refueling has dropped to 20 yuan per kilogram, and hydrogen fuel heavy-duty trucks consume about 10 kilograms of hydrogen per 100 kilometers, highlighting their increasing economic viability.

Computing power cluster green power support
The 220 kV Tianshan Zhigu substation in Hami adopts dual circuit power supply, which serves as a backup for the 35 kV substation, building a copper and iron wall to resist the risk of power outages. The local comprehensive electricity price has been compressed to within 0.35 yuan per kilowatt hour, which is only one-third of that in the eastern region. Through the green power direct connection project, adopting a direct supply plus green certificate trading model, the computing power center achieves 100% green power supply. At present, 19 leading enterprises including China Mobile, Alibaba Cloud, and Liantai have settled in the Hami Computing Innovation Demonstration Zone, with a computing power scale exceeding 21500P.
