In the second half of the global ocean energy engineering market in 2026, a large order worth $1.8 billion from the Middle East directly propelled Italy's veteran offshore giant Saipem onto the industry heat list. From deepwater pipeline laying ships in the Persian Gulf to FPSO shipyard construction in Southeast Asia, this enterprise with decades of accumulated offshore technology is continuously throwing out heavyweight orders to stir up the global energy infrastructure market.

1.8 billion EPCI orders landed in the Middle East

The newly signed Middle East project covers the full chain EPCI services of offshore platforms and underwater pipelines, relying on Saipem's localized operation fleet that has been deeply rooted in the Gulf region for decades. It is one of the largest marine engineering general contracting projects in the Middle East in the past six months. At present, the details of the project are still in the confidential stage, and no information about the owner and specific operating sea area has been disclosed to the public.

Southeast Asia's 2 billion FPSO project is advancing simultaneously

As early as early July 2026, Saipem officially announced that it had won the FPSO general contracting contract for a key offshore energy project in Indonesia, with a total amount of 2 billion US dollars. After the floating production, storage, and unloading oil device is put into use, it will directly connect the commercial development chain of Indonesia's deep-sea oil and gas fields, filling the core gaps in local offshore oil and gas processing. Keywords: Deep sea oil and gas, oil exploration

Two large orders totaling $3.8 billion have been successfully placed, marking a dual breakthrough for Saipem in the traditional advantage markets of the Middle East and emerging markets in Southeast Asia. When the global offshore industry is at a critical window of demand recovery, this veteran giant has delivered the most impressive industry performance in the first half of 2026 with solid order data.Editor/Cheng Liting
