In the remote southern province of Shaqiya in Oman, a wilderness with high-quality wind energy resources is about to welcome a large-scale green energy project. After a series of lengthy preparations such as multi-party negotiations, financing finalization, and agreement signing, the local 120MWJBB wind power independent power generation project has successfully completed financial settlement, marking the official breakthrough of this iconic large-scale wind farm in Oman and entering the fast lane of construction preparation. Chinese and foreign energy and engineering teams have each played their respective roles, working together to promote low-carbon transformation in Middle Eastern countries.

The project landing preparation is progressing at full speed

The JBB wind power project is located in Shaqiya Province, Oman, 440 kilometers away from Dukum Port. It plans to install 16 7.7MW wind turbines and is expected to be officially connected to the grid for power generation in the third quarter of 2027. The project is jointly developed by the French power energy company Green Shadow Partners and OQ Alternative Energy Company, with equity structures of 49%, 26%, and 25% respectively. It establishes a mature framework for the collaborative development of international energy giants, local private capital, and Oman's state-owned energy platform. The project finalized a 20-year power purchase agreement as early as December 2025, with an annual power generation capacity of 352400 megawatt hours, which can stably guarantee daily electricity consumption for 13500 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 270000 tons per year. It is also the first wind power project implemented by French power energy company in Oman.

Construction by Chinese enterprises is poised to take off

The EPC general contracting task for this project has been taken over by the CEEC consortium, fully demonstrating the strong capabilities of Chinese infrastructure enterprises in the field of new energy in the Middle East. At present, the preliminary preparation and personnel mobilization work on the project site has been launched, and the main project is scheduled to start construction in the third quarter of 2026.
