A Boeing 737-8 flew through the morning mist of Pamir and landed at Dushanbe Airport - opening a new chapter for Somon Airlines. The new aircraft model has entered Tajikistan, bringing the Central Asian hinterland closer and weaving the air Silk Road between China, Europe, and the Middle East with longer range and lower fuel consumption.

The new model has officially landed

Recently, Tajikistan's Somon Airlines officially received its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, marking its entry into the Tajikistan civil aviation market. The aircraft delivered this time is the Boeing 737-8, which is the first of two new planes leased by the airline from Dubai Airlines Leasing Company. Boeing officials have stated that this twin engine aircraft will be fully deployed on the company's medium to short haul route network, operating routes to Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and multiple destinations in Asia. The aircraft can carry up to 210 passengers and has a maximum range of 6480 kilometers, which will help the airline open popular international routes such as London, Beijing, and Guangzhou.

Collaborative Value

The head of Somon Airlines stated that relying on Tajikistan's superior location in Central Asia, coupled with the long range and excellent fuel economy of the 737-8 aircraft model, the airline can expand new international routes at low cost. The company will continue to introduce energy-saving aircraft models, steadily expand its fleet size, and deepen its long-term strategic cooperation with Boeing. The executive of Dubai Airlines Leasing Company introduced that it has over 190 737 MAX aircraft reserved for lease, and this leasing cooperation is an important part of the long-term cooperation between the two parties, which will continue to deepen in the future. Boeing officials stated that Somon Airlines has steadily grown into an international airline over the past 20 years and is a long-term trusted partner of Boeing. Both parties reached an intention last year to purchase up to 14 Boeing 787 and 737 MAX series aircraft, laying a solid foundation for the airline's long-term capacity upgrade.

Existing routes

Dushanbe Airport is the core hub of Somon Airlines and serves as the departure point for the vast majority of flights. At present, airline capacity mainly flows to the Russian market, with the busiest route being between Dushanbe and Moscow Zhukovsky Airport, with 14 flights per week; Dushanbe to Moscow Domodedovo Airport operates 7 flights per week. Simultaneously operating flights to multiple cities in Russia, including Krasnoyarsk, Samara, Kazan, and St. Petersburg, with stable frequency coverage. Within the Central Asian region, airlines have access to major cities such as Tashkent, Almaty, Astana, and Bishkek. International long-distance routes cover Dubai, Delhi, Istanbul, and Urumqi, with only the Munich route remaining in Europe. In addition, Kuzhan Airport serves as an auxiliary hub, opening multiple round-trip routes to Russia and improving the overall route layout. The operation of the new aircraft will further improve the China Tajikistan air route, assist in the high-quality construction of the Air Silk Road, and deepen personnel and economic exchanges between China and Central Asian countries.Editor/Gong Ziwei
