On the Egyptian desert along the Red Sea coast, the wave of new energy construction continues to surge. Recently, POWERCHINA has reached significant milestones in two local wind power projects, with a new project starting foundation pouring and a super large project completing tower construction, helping Egypt upgrade its clean energy with its hardcore engineering capabilities.

New machine base landing

On August 12, 2026, the 200MW wind power project in Ras Gharib, Egypt, under the EPC general contracting of POWERCHINA, successfully completed the first wind turbine foundation pouring operation. This project is the third wind power project landed by POWERCHINA in Egypt, with a total installed capacity of 202.5 megawatts and a planned installation of 27 wind turbines with a single capacity of 7.5 megawatts. The project is located in a high-temperature and dry desert area with a large temperature difference between day and night, making construction extremely difficult. The team has overcome technical difficulties through a special construction plan, ensuring the steady progress of the project and laying a solid foundation for the expansion of clean energy in the local area.

Conclusion of major project

At the same time, the 1.1 GW onshore wind power project in the Gulf of Suez, undertaken by POWERCHINA, has fully completed the assembly of on-site collection line towers. This project is the largest under construction wind power project in Egypt and the second largest in Africa, with 138 8-megawatt wind turbines installed. After completion, the project can provide an average of over 4.3 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity per year, covering approximately 1 million households in Egypt. It can reduce over 2.2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, helping Egypt achieve its emission reduction and energy structure upgrading goals. Expand the North African market

Two major projects have made consecutive breakthroughs, marking the official entry of the Egyptian wind power market into the gigawatt level development stage. POWERCHINA, with its mature construction technology and efficient performance capabilities in extreme environments, fully demonstrates the hardcore strength of China's infrastructure. Based on Egypt's 2030 Renewable Energy Development Plan, the company is gradually upgrading from single project breakthroughs to systematic layout, continuously improving the clean energy matrix along the Red Sea coast, and opening up vast space for China Egypt green energy cooperation and Chinese new energy enterprises to deeply cultivate the North African market.Editor/Min Jing
