At the Gobi wind farm, the blades of wind turbines that have been in service for many years slowly come to a halt, ushering in the moment of retirement. In this wind power aftermarket test, Zihuan New Energy took 25 old units as samples, connected the entire chain of detection, repair, and reconstruction, and revitalized retired veterans, writing a breakthrough chapter for the industry to move from extensive dismantling to high-value utilization.

Recently, China Zihuan New Energy Jiuquan Company launched the remanufacturing of 25 retired wind turbines, marking the official landing of China's first batch retired wind turbine cascade utilization project, providing a replicable model for high-value recycling of wind power equipment and filling the gap in industry technology application.

Start the reconstruction of old units

The 25 wind turbines undergoing this renovation have been in service for over 15 years and have reached retirement standards due to equipment aging, decreased power generation efficiency, and rising maintenance costs. Through technological breakthroughs, Zihuan New Energy conducts testing and evaluation of the core components of wind turbines, and customizes a cascade utilization plan. Relying on self-developed repair and strengthening processes to complete unit reconstruction, equipment performance has been greatly improved, and core components are close to new product standards, which can be adapted to various application scenarios such as distributed wind power and self owned power plants.

Innovation mode improves quality and efficiency

This project abandons the traditional extensive disposal mode and eliminates environmental pollution and resource waste caused by incineration and landfill through refined dismantling and component reuse. The comprehensive utilization rate of retired wind turbines has been increased from 30% to 70%, effectively activating the value of existing assets. The current trend of large-scale retirement of wind turbines in China is approaching, and the potential of the wind power cycle market is huge. However, there are pain points in the industry such as lack of standards and disjointed processes. Innovate and create a full chain wind power recycling and utilization model, establish an integrated technology system and closed-loop services throughout the entire lifecycle, and fill the gaps in the green and circular wind power industry chain. Building bases to empower industries

Zihuan New Energy collaborates with Jiuquan to build the first domestic full chain wind power recycling and disposal base. In the future, a three-level recycling system consisting of a central base, sorting center, and satellite warehouse will be established to integrate industry resources, drive the coordinated development of the industry chain, and promote the upgrading of the wind power recycling industry towards standardization, scale, and high value. At present, the market pressure of retired domestic wind turbines in zg1 is prominent, and this project has achieved a dual breakthrough in technology and mode. As a benchmark project for central enterprises, it will lead the industry from extensive dismantling to high-value reconstruction, accelerating the green closed-loop development of wind power throughout its entire lifecycle.Editor/Gong Ziwei
