Recently, the National Energy Administration released the first half of the year's national photovoltaic construction and operation data, with a newly added grid connected capacity of 71.768 million kilowatts, once again setting a new historical high for domestic photovoltaic installed capacity during the same period. The structural feature of distributed photovoltaics accounting for nearly 60% also clearly outlines the new development pattern of domestic photovoltaic development, shifting from centralized ground power stations to diverse scenarios blooming everywhere.

Distributed photovoltaic installed capacity growth core pillar

In the first half of the year, the total amount of newly connected photovoltaic power in China reached 71.768 million kilowatts, of which the scale of newly added distributed photovoltaic power reached 42.221 million kilowatts, accounting for more than 58.8% of the total newly installed capacity. The remaining 29.547 million kilowatts came from the contribution of centralized photovoltaic power stations to grid connection.

The continuous leadership of distributed photovoltaics is driven by the comprehensive activation of diverse scenarios such as rural areas, industrial and commercial factory roofs, and urban building facades in domestic counties. Unlike centralized power stations that have a centralized demand for land resources, distributed projects rely on dispersed idle spaces to promote development, without occupying a large amount of arable land. They are adapted to the resource endowments of different regions in China and are becoming the core carrier for the transformation of clean energy in counties and the sharing of green electricity benefits between residents and enterprises.

Continuous optimization and upgrading of photovoltaic development structure

Centralized photovoltaic power stations still maintain a stable grid connection rhythm, continuously releasing large-scale green power production capacity in scenarios such as wind and solar power bases and comprehensive management of the Shage Desert, forming a complementary and collaborative development pattern with distributed projects. The combination of the two forces has continuously enhanced the growth resilience of domestic photovoltaic installed capacity, no longer relying solely on the centralized grid connection rhythm of large base projects.

This data also confirms that the development logic of the domestic photovoltaic industry is undergoing a profound transformation, shifting from the past pursuit of rapid expansion of a single installed capacity to a high-quality development stage that focuses more on scene adaptation, on-site consumption, and multi-party benefits. The steady increase in the proportion of distributed photovoltaics has also enabled green electricity revenue to flow more directly to local counties, ordinary households, and small and medium-sized enterprises, further amplifying the social comprehensive value of the photovoltaic industry. The structural transformation of domestic photovoltaic development, from centralized power stations dominating to distributed ones accounting for nearly 60%, is the best footnote to the industry's move towards greater maturity and inclusiveness. This impressive half year installation report has also laid a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the photovoltaic industry throughout the year.Editor/Cheng Liting
