Guinea's local mining power is rapidly rising, and Nimba Mining Company has officially launched a monthly open bidding model for bauxite to supply the global market. This state-owned mining enterprise does not rely on external large-scale project financing and plans to expand through operating profits, gradually breaking away from the old situation of foreign investment leading local mineral development and promoting the value of domestic mineral resources to remain within the country.

Local mining enterprises break through the market-oriented situation

Nimba Mining Company has established an open sales mechanism, which involves negotiating long-term minimum purchase agreements with trading partners and disposing of remaining bauxite production through monthly spot bidding, benchmarking international mining enterprises for market-oriented operations. The enterprise has exported over 5 million tons of bauxite, with a target of shipping 10 million tons by 2026 and increasing production capacity to 12 million tons by 2027. Guinea has also tightened its mining regulations and promoted the construction of its local industrial chain, having previously completed the transfer of relevant foreign assets. Planning for diversified mining transformation

Nimba Mining Company draws on the development path of mature overseas mining enterprises and targets the four major directions of bauxite, alumina, gold and other basic metals. In the next two to five years, we aim to achieve an annual output of no less than 14 million tons of bauxite, promote the implementation of alumina refining plants and gold projects, and facilitate the completion of financing feasibility studies for basic metal projects. The country is also simultaneously promoting the development of the Simandou iron mine, forcing mining companies to enhance their local processing capabilities and reduce the loss of revenue caused by the outflow of raw ore.Editor/Min Jing
