On August 18, 2026, the Ambassador to Iraq met with the Minister of Water Resources, Tamimi, in Bobai.

Xiang said that China Iraq relations enjoy a good momentum of development and that Iraq is an important partner of China in jointly building the "the Belt and Road" in West Asia and North Africa. China is willing to engage in exchanges and cooperation with Iran in the field of water resources, further expanding the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries.

Tamimi expressed that Iran attaches great importance to developing relations with China, appreciates the valuable support provided by China for the economic reconstruction of Iraq, and hopes to learn from China's innovative technology and rich experience to cooperate in the exploration, management, and use of water resources in Iraq.
