On August 17, 2026, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sunac Energy Storage System Factory in the Suhena Industrial Zone of the Suez Canal Economic Zone was officially launched. The $50 million Sino Egyptian cooperative manufacturing project officially moved from a paper agreement to the landing stage of civil construction. This action is not just the start of a single factory, but also a key intersection between Egypt's new energy transformation and China's overseas production capacity layout.

Clear and controllable project implementation pace

The factory is located in the Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone between China and Egypt, covering an area of approximately 50000 square meters. It is planned to have an annual production capacity of 10 gigawatt hours after full production and is scheduled to officially start production in April 2027. From the disclosure of relevant plans for project signing in January 2026 to the completion of foundation laying in August, the entire process of land approval and preliminary preparation was completed in just 7 months, marking the official entry of the project into the critical stage of factory construction and subsequent equipment introduction. The joint participation of multiple departments such as the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the Ministry of Industry in the groundbreaking ceremony also provided clear policy support for the subsequent promotion of the project.

Lock in production capacity and local demand in advance

The factory has already received clear downstream order support before it is put into operation. Egypt is synchronously promoting the Norwegian Skatek Energy Valley project, which plans to build 1.7 gigawatts of photovoltaics and about 4 gigawatt hours of supporting energy storage. Sunac Power has obtained the energy storage system supply arrangement for the project, and the landing demand for the first batch of production capacity has been locked in advance. Combined with Egypt's rigid target of increasing the proportion of renewable energy generation to 45% by 2028, the incremental space for energy storage on the grid side continues to open up, and the policy orientation of local manufacturing also further unleashes the demand for supporting facilities from overseas manufacturers.
