While the towns on both sides of the Dnieper River are still repairing the power grid torn apart by artillery fire, a reconstruction centered on green electricity has quietly begun. Relying on EU funding and local resilience needs, Ukraine is embedding photovoltaics and energy storage into its new industrial landscape, and the supporting capabilities of Chinese companies in the industrial chain have become an invisible pivot for restarting the energy lifeline of this land.

Urumqi reconstruction drives industrial opportunities

Ukraine has a relatively large territory, and its post-war reconstruction work will not end in a low-key manner like Libya and Iraq, with EU funding backing. The post-war repair work in Ukraine will effectively drive the recovery of European manufacturing industry, and Chinese enterprises will play an important role in it, with the participation mode mainly based on industrial chain matching, rather than simply exporting finished products.

China Uzbekistan Dacheng Energy Storage Cooperation

Risen Energy, a domestic photovoltaic company, and Ascania Energy, a Ukrainian company, have officially signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation. They plan to implement a 100 MW photovoltaic installation project in Ukraine and simultaneously build a 200 megawatt hour large-scale battery energy storage system. According to the cooperation agreement, Dongfang Risheng is responsible for providing photovoltaic modules and utility grade battery energy storage equipment, while Ukraine's Ascania company leads local project development and is fully responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, and other landing services.

The head of Ascania company stated that investment in the field of battery energy storage will bring substantial benefits to Ukraine's energy development. Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022, Ukraine's domestic energy infrastructure has suffered massive damage. The relevant person in charge pointed out that Ukraine not only needs to repair damaged energy facilities, but also needs to build a more decentralized, flexible, and secure new energy system. The enterprise's business covers the entire energy industry chain, including engineering construction, energy management and control, power trading, terminal power supply and other fields, and has complete project implementation capabilities.

Accelerate the layout of new energy in Ukraine

Prior to the implementation of this cooperation, Ukraine had already landed multiple photovoltaic and energy storage investment projects. At the beginning of 2026, Polish new energy company ELQ announced plans to invest 2.5 billion euros in Ukraine's energy reconstruction project. Previously, the head of the Ukrainian Solar Energy Association also stated that the ongoing conflict has driven local investment in distributed power generation and energy storage, and small-scale photovoltaic energy storage systems have become an important support for ensuring electricity supply for Ukrainian people.

According to the cooperation agreement between both parties, Risen Energy will provide large-scale utility energy storage equipment for the project. During the agreement signing period, the core team of Ukrainian enterprises visited the production base of Dongfang Risheng on site, and the two sides focused on negotiating core technologies such as Hyper ion Pro heterojunction photovoltaic modules and eTron series liquid cooled energy storage systems.
