In the early morning, the mountain wind on the left bank of the Chalvak Reservoir swept over the hills of the Bostarek district in Tashkent Oblast, pushing the four snow-white leaves to slowly rotate. A year ago, this was still a mountainous area covered in gravel; Now, the 20 MW wind farm has been officially completed and connected to the grid, and green electricity from China will enter the lamps of tens of thousands of households in Uzbekistan along the line.

The project is about 90 kilometers away from the capital city of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, and is adjacent to the left bank of the Chalvak Reservoir. Four single 5-megawatt wind turbines have been erected from the ground, along with a 35 kV switching station and the construction and renovation of approximately 5 kilometers of access roads. At the completion ceremony, the mayor of Bostarek district mentioned that the Chinese team overcame complex mountainous and transportation difficulties and completed the entire construction in 12 months.

A 20 MW installed capacity may seem small, but it is practical enough: the project is expected to meet the annual electricity needs of tens of thousands of local residents, save about 12 million cubic meters of natural gas annually, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 24000 tons. For the Ukrainian side, which is promoting the new Uzbekistan strategy, this typhoon fleet is a sample of incorporating clean energy into daily life.

The project is guided by the Ministry of Commerce, promoted by the Xinjiang Department of Commerce in collaboration with Urumqi Water Resources and Energy Company, managed by China Energy Engineering Xinjiang Electric Power Design Institute and Xinjiang Chenghui Joint Venture, and constructed by TBEA.
