Recently, the large-scale power transmission and transformation project in the Yanshan area, constructed by China Metallurgical Group Corporation Limited, has been officially put into use, marking a new milestone in power security for this hot land.

The project is located in Yanshan County, Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. The construction includes a 110 kV overhead line, as well as approximately 205 km of 110 kV, 35 kV, and 10 kV cable lines and related supporting equipment. After the project is put into operation, the power supply capacity and reliability of the regional power grid will reach a new level, which not only provides strong support for energy security and supply, but also provides a solid power support for the vigorous development of the Yanshan green aluminum industry cluster.

Cleverly solving transportation difficulties in mountainous areas

However, the birth of this power artery is not an easy task. The mountains along the project are high and the valleys are deep, and the tower locations are mostly located on steep slopes at the top of the mountain, making it impossible for large lifting equipment to enter the site. Faced with numerous challenges such as complex terrain in mountainous areas, limited transportation channels, and scattered work sites, the project department has tailored a set of transportation combination punches to local conditions.

For short distance and urgent materials, the project department relies on unmanned aerial vehicle intelligent load lifting technology to shorten the originally 3-hour manual handling distance to 8 minutes, with astonishing efficiency improvement. In steep areas with high drops and crossing mountains and rivers, the freight cableway has shown its skills and can transport 300 kilograms of building materials in 12 minutes, effectively solving the bottleneck problem of material transportation. In extreme terrain and environmental protection zones, the project department adopts a combination of mule and horse transportation and manual handling, which not only protects the ecological environment but also ensures the progress of the project.

At the same time, the project department has established a dynamic inventory warning system for materials, scientifically coordinating the allocation of all factor resources such as personnel, materials, and mechanical equipment, promoting seamless integration of multiple processes, and ensuring efficient operation of the entire construction chain.

Technology empowers tower assembly

In the assembly process of the iron tower, the project department adopted the technique of internal suspension and external cable holding poles to complete the segmented assembly of the iron tower on an extremely narrow working surface. The synchronous application of GPS and total station combined precision measurement and control technology strictly controls the verticality deviation of the tower body within 3 ‰, and the one-time acceptance rate of tower assembly reaches over 98%, truly achieving safe and controllable operation, construction speed and efficiency improvement.

Party building safeguards safety bottom line

The difficulty in controlling dispersed operations in mountainous areas and the numerous quality and safety hazards are the pain points that cannot be avoided in such projects. The project department takes party building and safety as the focus, and implements a control mode of segmented contracting and fixed-point duty. The youth safety supervision post conducts surprise inspections at remote construction sites, strictly implements the pre shift briefing and work permit system, and regularly conducts daily inspections and weekly reports on hidden dangers.
