Rooted in the border port of Khorgos in Xinjiang, this top compressor station in Asia has stuck to delivering clean energy for 17 years, supporting the gas supply in many areas of the country and helping the development of green energy. Recently, the National Pipeline Network Group disclosed that the cumulative gas transmission capacity of Khorgos Initial Compressor Station exceeded 600 billion cubic meters. The site was put into operation in 2009 along with the West East Gas Pipeline 2 and has been running smoothly for over 6000 days. Its annual designed gas transmission capacity is 60 billion cubic meters, with a total compressor power of over 240 megawatts and a maximum daily gas transmission capacity of 163 million cubic meters.

The station adopts a unique dual gas source architecture, integrating cross-border gas sources from Central Asia with local coal to gas production in Yili, complementing peak shaving to avoid gas supply risks. The gas sources cover 27 provinces and regions across the country and Hong Kong, ensuring the gas demand of over 500 million people. 600 billion cubic meters of natural gas can replace 798 million tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 877 million tons and dust emissions by 435 million tons.
Based on the experience of multi gas source mixed transmission operation and maintenance, the station continues to promote digital and low-carbon upgrades, providing high-quality practical samples for the transformation of domestic energy pipeline networks and cross regional supply guarantee.Key words: Khorgos Gas Station, energy supply guarantee
