The consortium led by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has officially launched the construction of the world's largest airport automated passenger transport system. This 50 kilometer APM system will connect 9 stations and be equipped with 165 vehicles, with a planned completion date of December 2031. Super arteries of super airports

The development plan for Almaktum International Airport is expected to be put into operation in 2032, with a final annual passenger throughput of 260 million and reserved space for further expansion. The APM system extends for about 50 kilometers, connecting 9 stations within the airport and equipped with 165 vehicles, becoming a key artery supporting the operation of this super hub. The system will connect the terminal building and other major airport facilities to ensure efficient passenger flow within the vast airport.

Mitsubishi consortium undertakes system integration

The contract was awarded by Dubai Airlines City to a consortium led by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, consisting of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Dubai subsidiary MHI Mobility Engineering Services and Indian engineering and construction company Larsen&Toubro. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and its subsidiaries are responsible for the design, procurement, testing, and overall system integration of APM vehicles and signal systems, while Larsen&Toubro is responsible for the design, procurement, testing, and on-site construction of other subsystems. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries participated in the Dubai Metro project in 2011 and completed the APM system for Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport in 2012, with local project experience.
