The dust of the dry season has not yet dissipated, and on a mountain road in Laos, a heavy truck loaded with ore is slowly climbing up the slope. The wheels were pressed over potholes and the car body was violently bumpy, forcing the driver to slow down again and again. This kind of scene is not uncommon on the roads leading to the main roads in many resource producing areas in Laos. If the road is not easy to walk on, the ore cannot be transported out, and the cost increases layer by layer, finally weighing on the shoulders of enterprises and local people.

The good news is that this old road is about to undergo a change. Recently, CRBC Laos office officially signed the business contract for the pavement maintenance project of Highway 5605 in Laos.

The troubles of an old road

Laos is located in the inland of the Indochina Peninsula, with widespread mountains and hills, and considerable reserves of potassium salt, copper ore and other resources within its borders. In recent years, with the acceleration of resource development and the increase of freight vehicles, problems such as insufficient load-bearing capacity and road surface damage have become increasingly prominent on some existing highways. The Laotian government has listed transportation infrastructure as a priority development area, explicitly proposing to raise the load-bearing standard of major national highways to 11 tons per axle, and systematically promote the repair of national highways and the connection of key bridge nodes. For mineral transportation, the lack of road connectivity and durability directly determine whether the industry can run smoothly.

The doorways in the maintenance checklist

The main construction contents of this project include existing road surface shaping and compaction, road surface engineering, soil road shoulders, drainage ditches and pipelines, street lamps, and traffic safety facilities. Seemingly just road maintenance, it actually covers multiple aspects such as roadbed, drainage, lighting, and security. Plastic compaction makes the old road surface solid again, drainage ditches and pipelines solve the old problem of water damage during the rainy season, and street lights and traffic safety facilities put traffic safety on the forefront. Each item points towards the same goal: making the way flatter, more durable, and safer.

Deeply cultivate Laos and settle again

This is CRBC's latest expansion achievement in the Laotian market. In recent years, China Road and Bridge Corporation has been continuously laying out along the Mekong River, and has undertaken projects such as the Cambodia Golden Port Expressway and the expansion of National Highway 11, accumulating experience in localized operations. After the opening of the China Laos Railway, the logistics pattern in Laos has been profoundly reshaped. The demand for the connection between roads and railways has become increasingly urgent, and the value of improving the quality of feeder roads has also increased. This winning bid will further enhance the competitiveness and brand influence of China Road and Bridge Corporation in the Laotian market.

After the completion of the project, it will further improve the local road traffic conditions, enhance the transportation guarantee capacity and efficiency of mineral resources, and provide strong support for Laos' resource development and regional economic and social development.keywords:Engineering infrastructure

Next, CRBC will fully leverage its advantages in five aspects, four major categories, and five types, continue to deeply cultivate the two major markets of Cambodia and Laos, expand market growth, improve operational quality and efficiency, and promote high-quality development of international business.Editor/Yang Meiling
