On the construction site of an AI factory on the east coast of Malaysia, the first batch of Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 racks are waiting to be installed, and the multi-year cooperation agreement between Australian AI infrastructure company Firmus Technologies and OpenAI has officially landed.

This marks Firmus' business expansion into its fourth Asia Pacific market, with a total capacity of over 900 megawatts under contract. In the first half of 2026, the global AI computing power installed capacity increased by 72% year-on-year, which directly pushed the competition heat of the Asia Pacific computing power track to a new level.

900 MW contracted capacity covers seven factories in four countries

Firmus' current business spans across four Asia Pacific countries: Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, with a total of seven AI factories. The Australian and Singapore sites have already been put into operation, and the remaining five ongoing projects will be delivered in the next 24 months.

Two new sites in Malaysia will adopt the NVIDIA DSX AI factory platform, equipped with NVIDIA's latest rack level system and deeply integrated with the self-developed HyperCube prefabricated liquid cooling infrastructure. This vertically integrated solution, produced locally in New South Wales, Australia, can significantly reduce the overall deployment cycle of AI factories.

$3 billion financing supports global expansion

Firmus has completed over $3 billion in equity financing in the past 12 months, with the latest $2 billion financing being backed by Coatue and Nvidia, and new institutions such as Blackstone and Jane Street entering the market, with a post investment valuation exceeding $10.5 billion. Recently, the company also acquired the core business of local engineering company Benmax for AUD 300 million, strengthening the full chain engineering capabilities of AI factories. At the same time, it is promoting the construction of multiple computing power hubs in Tasmania, South Australia and other places in Australia.
