As the core inland logistics hub of Ethiopia, Mojiao Dry Port has long been responsible for the storage and transportation of bulk goods in the country. On September 10, 2026, the dry port expansion project undertaken by CCECC was officially completed, relying on $110 million World Bank financing to upgrade and significantly refresh the port's throughput capacity, solving the development problems of high logistics costs and slow turnover in inland countries.

Port revitalization and upgrading

The expansion and upgrading project of Mojiao Dry Port covers an area of about 67.8 hectares and is a key supporting facility for the Addis Ababa Djibouti Railway. After the completion of the project, the annual cargo throughput of the port jumped from 520000 TEUs to 1.6 million TEUs, and the longest detention time of goods was reduced from 60 days to 8 days, achieving a leapfrog improvement in transportation efficiency and completely improving the current situation of inefficient local cargo turnover. Empowering economic and trade development

Mojo Dry Port is located in Mojo City, Oromia Region, Ethiopia, about 70 kilometers away from the capital Addis Ababa. It is the largest inland port in Ethiopia. For a long time, high logistics costs have constrained the economic and trade development of Ethiopia. This project upgrade will improve the layout of the Ethiopia Djibouti trade corridor, assist in the construction of the prosperous zone of the Addis Ababa Djibouti railway, drive economic growth in cities along the route, and inject lasting momentum into local social development.Editor/Min Jing
