The whistle sounded at the Mudanjiang Industrial Cooperation Park station, and a container train loaded with shoes, home appliances, and daily necessities slowly departed, heading north along the direction of Suifenhe Port and straight to Moscow.

The Mudanjiang Moscow container special train, which was launched on September 15, 2026, officially added a new steel camel caravan route to the cross-border logistics map of Northeast Asia.

Logistics efficiency has significantly increased

This special train adopts a one-time declaration, one-time inspection, and one-time clearance mode, which shortens the entire operation time by about 60% compared to traditional sea freight and reduces logistics costs by more than 22%.

A single train can carry 41 standard containers, with an annual designed transport capacity of 50000 standard containers. In the initial stage, it will operate steadily at a frequency of one train per week. Relying on the customs clearance advantage of the century old Suifenhe Port, goods departing from Mudanjiang do not need to be inverted multiple times and can directly reach the core hub of the Russian capital.

Channels drive industrial upgrading

Mudanjiang is located at the geometric center of the Northeast Asian economic circle, and has been continuously building an integrated pattern of channels, hubs, and industries in recent years. After the regular operation of the special train, it will directly empower three major industrial clusters: cross-border processing and manufacturing, deep processing of imported agricultural and forestry resources, and northward commercial distribution. It is expected to drive the addition of more than 80 foreign trade entities and increase annual exports to Russia by more than 15%.

In the future, Mudanjiang will also collaborate with Harbin and Suifenhe to jointly build a Sino Russian cross-border e-commerce logistics coordination center, expand special routes such as cold chain trains and pharmaceutical trains, and promote data exchange and warehouse distribution between Moscow overseas warehouses and Mudanjiang bonded logistics centers.
