On September 17, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Rumei met with the Director of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency, Suleimanov, to exchange views on the cooperation between the two countries in mine clearance.

Ambassador Lu stated that China actively supports and participates in international mine clearance assistance activities. During President Aliyev's visit to China in April last year, the two heads of state reached an important consensus on carrying out mine clearance cooperation and witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Humanitarian Mine Clearance Cooperation. China is willing to follow the consensus of the two heads of state, continue to support the construction of Afghanistan's mine clearance capacity, and jointly implement the Global Security Initiative.

Su thanked China for its mine clearance assistance and stated that China's assistance plays an important role in protecting the lives and safety of the Afghan people.
