For many years, Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, has lacked a modern subway system, resulting in prominent urban traffic congestion and limited travel experience for citizens. As a key project for China and Serbia to jointly build the the Belt and Road, the local subway project bears the expectation of local traffic upgrading. Falling into the European infrastructure market

On September 18, 2026, PowerChina Railway successfully signed a contract for the Phase 1, Section 3 project of Belgrade Metro Line 1 in Serbia. The signing ceremony was witnessed by representatives from Serbia's government and enterprises, as well as Chinese companies, marking a new stage in the construction of this key subway project and helping Electric Power Construction Railway further expand its international market in Europe, setting a new record for overseas business scale. Empowering urban transportation upgrading

The winning bid section has been smoothly connected with the previously landed bids 1 and 2, jointly forming the complete civil engineering project of Belgrade Metro Line 1 Phase 1. This line is Serbia's first subway line, with a total length of 15.4 kilometers and a planned construction of 15 stations. It is a local national key infrastructure project.
