When AI computing power becomes the new oil of the digital age, a race for high-density computing power is quietly unfolding in Western Sydney. The collaboration between GreenSquare and Sharon AI not only marks the large-scale implementation of Nvidia's cutting-edge GPU cluster in Australia, but also creates a new model for delivering computing power through old building renovation and green carbon reduction.
The old building carries a cluster of 10000 trucks
Sharon AI, as a cloud partner of NVIDIA, plans to deploy approximately 8200 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs as the first customer to settle in the first phase of GreenSquare Sydney SYD1 campus. GreenSquare stated that this agreement locks in the first batch of AI computing room resources in the SYD1 campus. Sharon AI will deploy the NVIDIA HGX B300 platform here, which is one of the largest HGX B300 landing projects in Australian public information. As GreenSquare continues to expand its presence in New South Wales and Victoria, this contract has become a key milestone for its commercial landing, with a total scale of over 1 gigawatt of data center projects under construction and planning.

Reshaping the computing power base
The SYD1 data center is located in the Northwest Business Park, with an overall plan for a high standard computing power park of over 100 megawatts. The first phase of the project did not adopt the conventional plan of demolishing old buildings and building new ones, but instead renovated and reused the existing data center building. GreenSquare mentioned that compared to the new construction model, the old building reuse scheme can not only compress the construction period, but also significantly reduce the hidden carbon emissions of buildings.

The sustainability assessment report issued by engineering consulting firm TTW shows that the project retains 92% of the original building's structural carbon, reduces front-end structural carbon emissions by 76% per unit area, and achieves a front-end structural carbon reduction of 93% per kilowatt based on IT capacity accounting. To support high-density computing power, GreenSquare has carried out a systematic upgrade of the existing buildings, with a focus on balancing high power density and low water demand. The infrastructure architecture is highly flexible and can adapt to the constantly changing business needs of customers in the future.
Phase II acceleration and expansion of production
In addition, GreenSquare disclosed earlier that the second phase of the SYD1 project plans to have 80 megawatts of computing power and has received support from the New South Wales Government Investment Delivery Agency. This special project can provide non funding assistance, coordinate multiple government departments, and assist in solving various problems such as supporting infrastructure and compliance supervision. GreenSquare CEO Charles Penney believes that this long-term partnership with clients demonstrates the commercial value of their platform and reflects the strong demand for high standard, fast delivery AI computing facilities in the market. He also mentioned that the core task at present is to ensure the implementation and guarantee the safety, stability, and timely commissioning of the new generation of high-density computing facilities.Editor/Gong Ziwei
