The foreign ministers of China and Germany have had a phone call to discuss bilateral and international issues, resolve differences through dialogue, and stabilize the overall situation of bilateral and China Europe cooperation.

Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a phone call with German Foreign Minister Walder at the invitation. Both sides confirm their commitment to dialogue and consultation to resolve economic and trade issues between China and Europe. Wang Yi pointed out that both China and Germany are major economies and comprehensive strategic partners, and should deepen pragmatic cooperation, uphold multilateralism and free trade. The One China principle is the political foundation of China Germany relations, and he hopes that Germany will take practical actions to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and promote the EU to abandon protectionism.

Walder stated that Germany firmly adheres to the One China policy and looks forward to close high-level exchanges, holding a new round of German Chinese government consultations, and exerting influence to promote dialogue between Europe and China to resolve differences. Both sides also exchanged views on the Iran situation and the Ukraine crisis.
