The natural gas processing unit of the Dongba Oilfield in Iraq, invested and constructed by Chinese enterprise Zhenhua Oil Holdings Co., Ltd., was successfully put into operation on September 22. Iraqi Oil Minister Basim Mohammad Hudayr and several senior officials attended the commissioning ceremony.

It is reported that the natural gas processing unit has a designed processing capacity of 25 million standard cubic feet per day, which is an important project to improve the surface production system of the oilfield and promote the comprehensive utilization of associated gas.

During an interview with Xinhua News Agency, Hudaier highly praised the professional ability and efficient performance of Chinese companies, believing that Chinese companies are crucial to the development of Iraq's oil and gas industry. He said that the project solved the problem of associated gas venting and combustion in oil fields, and the processed natural gas was transported to power plants, which would help stabilize the Iraqi national power grid, reduce the country's dependence on imported fuels, and protect the environment of the capital Baghdad.

Ma Cheng, Assistant General Manager of Zhenhua Oil and General Manager of Dongba Oil Co., Ltd. in Iraq, stated that after the full operation of the equipment, it will not only improve the comprehensive utilization efficiency of oil and gas, significantly enhance the green and low-carbon development level of Dongba Oilfield, but also help Iraq alleviate the "gas shortage" dilemma and contribute Chinese strength to Iraq's energy security and sustainable development.

Dongba Oilfield is located about 30 kilometers southeast of Baghdad and is a key oil and gas project independently constructed and operated by Zhenhua Oil in Iraq. It is also the only large-scale oilfield in production around Baghdad. At present, the daily crude oil production of the oil field reaches 80000 barrels, playing an important role in ensuring energy supply to the capital of Iran and supporting local economic and social development.Editor/Yang Meiling
