On October 6, 2026, in Yiwu County, Hami City, Xinjiang, the centralized bidding and project launch ceremony for the East German Energy Green Hydrogen Coupled Carbon Dioxide to 100000 tons of sustainable aviation fuel project was held. This China's first and largest negative carbon aviation fuel demonstration project has officially entered the implementation stage.

Implementation of negative carbon aviation coal demonstration project

This project innovatively adopts carbon dioxide recovery and recycling technology to produce sustainable aviation fuel while consuming carbon dioxide, which is a cutting-edge technological path for decarbonization in the aviation industry. The total investment of the project is 11 billion yuan, with a supporting construction of 2 gigawatts of wind power and an annual production line of 50000 tons of green hydrogen. It can capture and utilize 400000 tons of carbon dioxide annually and produce 100000 tons of green sustainable aviation fuel annually, building a complete negative carbon industry chain of green electricity, green hydrogen, carbon capture, and green aviation coal. As the first and largest negative carbon aviation fuel demonstration project in China, its implementation marks a new stage of large-scale development for China's sustainable aviation fuel industry. Hami, Xinjiang builds a green hydrogen base

The project is located in Yiwu County, Hami City, Xinjiang. Relying on the abundant local wind and solar resources, it will form a complete negative carbon industrial chain loop by producing green hydrogen from green electricity and coupling green hydrogen with carbon dioxide to produce sustainable aviation fuel. This layout will build Hami into an important base for China's green hydrogen and green aviation coal industries, and provide replicable technological solutions and industrial models for the low-carbon transformation of the aviation industry. After the project is put into operation, it can absorb 400000 tons of carbon dioxide annually and produce 100000 tons of sustainable aviation fuel, which has important demonstration significance for promoting deep decarbonization in the aviation industry and ensuring energy security.Editor/Gao Xue
