A call spanning across Europe and Asia connects the storms of the Black Sea with the relationship between the two countries. The heads of state of Türkiye and Russia talked about the safety of navigation on the phone, and also talked about bringing together the Russian Ukrainian dialogue.

On October 7, 2026, Türkiye's Communication Bureau said that President Erdogan of Türkiye and President Putin of Russia had a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral relations and regional and global issues. Erdogan stressed the importance of efforts to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, and said that Türkiye is always ready to make contributions to promoting direct contact between Russia and Ukraine.
