On the photovoltaic base in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, the first batch of efficient ABC module support foundations have begun pouring, and the cooperation between Aixu and Infinity Power has officially extended from the Nile River in Egypt to the inland deserts of South Africa. As of the third quarter of 2026, the annual new installed capacity of centralized photovoltaics in Africa has exceeded 12.3 gigawatts, a year-on-year increase of 47%. The Middle East and Africa are becoming the fastest-growing emerging markets for high-efficiency photovoltaic modules in the world.

773.5MW module order officially landed in South Africa

Aixu has reached a cooperation agreement with Infinity Power, a leading renewable energy supplier in Africa, to supply 773.5 MW high-efficiency ABC modules for three utility level solar projects in South Africa. After the signing of this contract, the cumulative cooperation scale between the two parties in the African market has officially exceeded 2 gigawatts, accounting for 6.2% of the total high-efficiency module shipments in the Middle East and Africa in 2026, becoming a landmark for Chinese photovoltaic companies to deeply cultivate the centralized market in the Middle East and Africa.

This batch of projects all use Aixu ABC 66 version double glass components, with a mass production conversion efficiency of 24.1% and a maximum power of 655 watts. Compared with conventional TOPCon components, the comprehensive power advantage of ABC components can maximize the utilization of project land resources, effectively reduce the cost investment of supporting BOS such as brackets and cables by about 7%, shorten the on-site construction period by 12%, significantly reduce the cost of electricity per kilowatt hour throughout the entire life cycle of the power station, and directly improve the project investment return rate by 1.8 percentage points.

The performance advantages of adapting to local scenarios in South Africa are highlighted

South Africa's energy structure has long relied on coal-fired power, with an average service life of over 32 years for coal-fired power plants. Equipment aging has led to tight power supply, with an average annual power restriction of over 1200 hours. The local government is accelerating the construction of large-scale photovoltaic projects, and the special operating environment of high temperature and radiation has put strict requirements on the temperature coefficient, long-term attenuation performance, and operational reliability of photovoltaic modules.

ABC components, with their leading performance in high-temperature operation suppression, low attenuation, and anti cracking, have built unique scene adaptation advantages to ensure stable power generation output throughout the entire lifecycle of the power station. After the project is fully operational, it is expected to contribute approximately 1871 gigawatt hours of clean electricity annually, meeting the electricity needs of about 456000 households and reducing carbon emissions by approximately 1.7 million tons annually. This is also the third deep collaboration between the two sides in the African market after two large-scale photovoltaic projects in Egypt, and they will continue to build more benchmark projects for centralized photovoltaics in the future. Keywords: new energy projects, photovoltaics

Photovoltaic arrays on the desert will be gradually deployed, and a continuous stream of clean electricity will be integrated into the South African national grid. China's efficient photovoltaic technology is becoming the core driving force supporting Africa's energy transformation.Editor/Cheng Liting
