At the Beijing meeting, China and Russia exchanged greetings from their respective heads of state, held in-depth consultations on the Arctic shipping route and ocean governance, and planned to expand new space for bilateral strategic cooperation based on the blue engine.

On October 12, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, held a meeting with Patrushev, Chairman of the Russian Presidential Assistant Maritime Committee, in Beijing.

Wang Yi proposed that the Ice Silk Road is highly compatible with Russia's Arctic shipping route planning. Both sides can align their maritime strategies, maintain waterway security, expand exchanges in the Arctic field, and promote the construction of a community with a shared future for the ocean.   Both sides also exchanged views on multiple international and regional hot topics.Editor/Min Jing
