On October 10, 2026, at the signing ceremony in Chongqing, the hands of Seres and CATL were once again held together. From the 2021 power battery supply and demand framework agreement to Ningde Times directly moving the CTP2.0 battery production line into the Serys Chongqing super factory by 2025, the cooperation between the two parties has gone from single point matching to full chain collaboration. The entire lineup of Wanjie vehicles is equipped with CATL batteries, with a cumulative delivery of over 1.2 million units. This time, the two companies have set their sights on Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia, crossing national borders.

Double the production capacity within the factory

The construction of the second phase of the Sailis Super Factory will be accelerated, with an annual planned production capacity of 10 to 12 gigawatt hours. After completion, the total annual production capacity of the first and second phases will exceed 20 gigawatt hours. The battery production line will be directly laid out in the vehicle workshop, and the battery pack can be directly loaded onto the vehicle after assembly, resulting in faster logistics turnover and less inventory, effectively reducing overall production costs. CATL will continue to increase its investment in Chongqing, helping to build a trillion level high-end intelligent connected new energy vehicle industry cluster. The two sides will also deepen cooperation around supercharging, battery swapping, and battery services, and create an energy replenishment ecosystem covering the entire lifecycle.

UAE becomes a hub in the Middle East

On February 6, 2026, AITO WENJIE signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Abu Dhabi Motors, a leading luxury car dealer group in the United Arab Emirates, in Chongqing. This dealer, which has accumulated 40 years of experience, will be responsible for the sales, delivery, and after-sales service of WENJIE's high-end intelligent vehicles in the UAE, and will plan and construct a brand experience center and service center. Within 20 days after the agreement was signed, Wenjie received the first batch of 200 orders. Local compatible models are already in production, and software and hardware optimization has been completed for multilingual systems, high temperature environments, and local driving scenarios. Sailis has clearly identified the United Arab Emirates as the core hub for radiating to the Middle East. Keywords: the Belt and Road news network, enterprise industry, battery, Middle East

Egyptian battery factory supports overseas expansion

On September 13, 2026, witnessed by Egyptian Prime Minister Madbli, CATL signed a cooperation agreement with Egyptian battery manufacturer BME, planning to invest over 2 billion Egyptian pounds, approximately 261 million yuan, to build a power battery factory. The initial annual production capacity is 1 gigawatt hour, focusing on large commercial vehicle batteries, and the second phase will expand to passenger car batteries, with a total production capacity of 5 gigawatt hours. On January 10, 2026, CATL opened the first and largest new energy after-sales service center in the Middle East in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It has been ranked first in the global power battery market for 9 consecutive years, with production bases in Germany and Hungary, serving 75 countries, and having over 54000 patents. This signing is a framework cooperation document, and the production capacity of the second phase of the factory is a planned goal. The specific implementation will still be subject to the official announcement of both parties.Editor/Gao Xue
