In the late night factories on the land of Ganpo, the production lines are still running steadily, and a continuous stream of clean electricity follows the 1696 kilometer ultra-high voltage silver line from the banks of the Yalong River in Sichuan to the shores of Poyang Lake. On October 11, 2026, the cumulative power transmission capacity of Yahu DC officially exceeded 100 billion kilowatt hours. This power artery spanning thousands of miles has truly rooted the West East power transmission strategy in Jiangxi.
Billions of clean water and electricity support energy supply chassis
The Yahu DC starts from the Yalong River converter station in Sichuan Province in the west and ends at the Poyang Lake converter station in Jiangxi Province in the east, with a total length of 1696 kilometers and a rated transmission power of 8 million kilowatts, equivalent to nearly one-fifth of the highest electricity load of the Jiangxi power grid in August 2026. The maximum daily external transmission capacity can cover nearly 20% of the province's electricity demand. During the peak summer season of 2026, this channel will deliver over 8.7 billion kilowatt hours of clean hydropower to Jiangxi, effectively filling the supply gap during the summer electricity peak and ensuring the smooth operation of the province's manufacturing industry and people's livelihood electricity.

According to the calculation of per capita living electricity consumption of residents in Jiangxi Province in 2025, 100 billion kilowatt hours of clean hydropower can meet the total living electricity demand of 44.74 million permanent residents in the province for more than two years. Compared with coal-fired power generation of the same scale, this part of electricity has saved a total of 45.15 million tons of standard coal and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by about 73.95 million tons, equivalent to the total carbon emissions of motor vehicles in Jiangxi Province in the past year, providing practical green support for the ecological construction of beautiful Jiangxi.
Long term stable operation and maintenance to strengthen the advantages of cross regional channels
Since the official operation of Yahu DC in June 2021, State Grid Jiangxi Electric Power has built an ultra-high voltage training platform relying on the Poyang Lake converter station, trained nearly a hundred certified ultra-high voltage operation and maintenance professionals, and fully achieved independent and controllable operation and maintenance system. As of October 2026, the Poyang Lake converter station has achieved continuous safe operation for 1938 days, with energy availability ranking among the top in the national power grid system for a long time, and has never experienced long-term shutdown faults that affect power transmission.

As of mid October 2026, the cross provincial and cross regional transmission capacity in Jiangxi Province has increased by over 120% compared to before the operation of Yahu DC, and the West East Power Transmission Channel has become the core support for Jiangxi's energy structure transformation. In the future, this clean energy channel into Jiangxi will continue to expand, injecting green momentum into Jiangxi's ability to undertake the transfer of industries from the east and achieve high-quality economic and social development. The converter station on the banks of Poyang Lake is still brightly lit, and the rushing water of the Yalong River thousands of miles away is being converted into stable electricity. Along this energy channel spanning Sichuan and Jiangxi, it is sending a continuous stream of green power to the land of Ganpo.Editor/Cheng Liting
