The Ministry of Transport has announced a plan to fully connect three backbone national highways during the 15th Five Year Plan period, linking the long coastline and border areas, bringing new development opportunities to border and coastal regions.

The national highway network is spreading out

During the 15th Five Year Plan period, China will comprehensively connect three major land routes, namely National Highways 219 and 331 along the border and National Highway 228 along the coast, forming a golden outer ring that connects the country's borders and coasts. At present, the key node project of the Fujian section of National Highway 228, the Fuqing Donggang Extra Large Bridge, has a total length of 3920 meters and is undergoing asphalt pavement construction on the bridge deck, entering the final sprint stage of construction. The Ring Road connects mountains and seas

National Highway 219, with a total length of about 10000 kilometers, runs from Dongxing in Guangxi to Kanas in Xinjiang, and runs through four provinces and regions in Xizang, Yunnan and Guangxi. It is one of the highways with the highest altitude in the world. National Highway 331 has a total length of approximately 9200 kilometers, starting from Altay, Xinjiang and ending in Dandong, Liaoning, spanning across three provinces in Northeast China and six provinces in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Xinjiang. After the three national highways are connected, they will link the coastal and inland areas, creating a super long distance land loop in China. During the 15th Five Year Plan period, the total length of the construction and renovation of the Golden Outer Ring Road is about 7400 kilometers, with a total investment of about 370 billion yuan.
