During the 15th Five Year Plan period, China will comprehensively connect three major land routes, namely National Highways 219 and 331 along the border and National Highway 228 along the coast, forming a golden outer ring that runs through the country's border and coastal areas.

At present, the key node project of National Highway 228 Fujian section - the 3920 meter long Fuqing Donggang Extra Large Bridge is undergoing asphalt pavement construction on the bridge deck, and the construction has entered the final sprint stage.

Relying on a batch of construction projects, National Highway 228, with a total length of about 7400 kilometers, is accelerating its completion. From north to south, from Dandong in Liaoning to Dongxing in Guangxi, connecting 10 coastal provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, and stringing together all core coastal ports into a chain.

At the same time, along the way to the west, from Dongxing in Guangxi to Kanas in Xinjiang, the National Highway 219 with a length of about 10000 kilometers runs through Xinjiang, Xizang, Yunnan and Guangxi, making it one of the highest highways in the world. The National Highway 331, with a total length of about 9200 kilometers from Altay in Xinjiang to Dandong in Liaoning, spans across the three northeastern provinces and six provinces of Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Xinjiang in northern China.

Fully connecting these three national highways will link the coastal and inland areas, forming China's ultra long land ring road - the Golden Outer Ring Road.

It is expected that during the 15th Five Year Plan period, the total length of construction and renovation of the Golden Outer Ring Road will be about 7400 kilometers, with a total investment of about 370 billion yuan. Among them, National Highway 219 and National Highway 331 will basically meet the standards of third class and above highways, and National Highway 228 will basically meet the standards of second class and above highways.
