When computing power becomes the oil of the 21st century, Ankara quietly lays the first shovel of soil on a barren land. This is not only the foundation of steel and cement, but also a declaration of a country holding digital sovereignty in its hands. From wasteland to regional digital hub, Türkiye is anchoring its future power map here.

On October 19, 2026, the foundation of Ankara Data Center Complex was laid in Bashkent Industrial Park, which is an important node for Türkiye to build a regional digital hub. The project is jointly developed by Ronesans Holding and global data center operator Digital Realty.
Project foundation laying and commencement
The Minister of Industry and Technology of Türkiye said that the investment in Phase I civil engineering was 450 million dollars, and the investment in cooling and IT supporting facilities was 900 million dollars. After the overall completion of the project, it can bring a fixed investment of 4.1 billion US dollars to the park. Cahill compares computing power and cloud computing to the oil of the 21st century. The global data center installation capacity is expected to increase from 103 gigawatts last year to 200 gigawatts by 2030, with over 20% of new capital invested in this field.

Increase computing power support
Cahill introduced that Türkiye has launched the HIT-30 plan and arranged 30 billion dollars of incentive funds before 2030 to help AI cloud computing development. Türkiye relies on national technology initiatives to promote its own research, and regards digital sovereignty as an important element of national independence. The existing TRUBA high-performance computing project has served over 8900 researchers. HIT-30 is divided into data centers AI、 The quantum project, with supporting funds of 1.4 billion and 1.6 billion US dollars respectively, aims to lay out future quantum computing power.

Building an AI ecosystem
Türkiye's 2026-2030 AI plan proposes that the national data center installation target in 2030 should not be less than 1 GW. Relying on the Everyone Can GPU Program, open computing power to entrepreneurs and researchers, and cultivate an AI industry ecosystem. The two cooperative enterprises plan to invest a total of over 10 billion US dollars in Ankara and Istanbul, and build 200 megawatts of computing power, accounting for one-fifth of the national target.Editor/Gong Ziwei
