On October 19, 2026, in Muscat, the capital of Oman, a consortium formed by Huashi Group and Zhongdi International Engineering Co., Ltd. officially received the award letter issued by Nama Water Services, the national water company of Oman, and was awarded the construction project of the Nizwa and Bahara water distribution network. The news came, and the consortium team couldn't hide their excitement. This is the first overseas EPC general contracting project of Huashi Group to receive an award letter, marking a milestone breakthrough in the company's overseas general contracting business. The contract amount for the project is approximately 36.38 million Omani riyals, equivalent to approximately 630 million Chinese yuan or 93.76 million US dollars.

600 million water distribution project landed
The project is located in Amanda Hilier Province, covering Nizwa and Bachra. The construction content includes water distribution network, water storage facilities and related supporting projects. After the completion of the project, the regional water supply network will be improved to enhance the stability and coverage of local water supply. Huashi Group has carried out substantive preparation work before the project is implemented. On September 28, 2026, the Vice President of the Group led a team to Oman for on-site inspection and business docking. The team inspected three high-level water tanks involved in the project and the water distribution areas within their service scope, and identified the key and difficult construction points. On September 30, 2026, the consortium held a pre award meeting with the tenderer NWS to confirm the bidding commitments and discuss the project organization plan, laying the foundation for the formal award.

Huashe wins overseas general contracting for the first time
The project owner Nama Water Services is the main operator of water and sewage services in Oman, responsible for water and sewage services in most provinces of Oman. Since 2026, NWS has continued to release large-scale water projects. Galfar has won the bid for the Dashila Province water distribution network project, with a total amount of 117 million Omani riyals, approximately 304 million US dollars; The French consortium led by Suez has secured a 15 year supply and drainage operation and maintenance contract worth 878 million Omani riyals, approximately 2.3 billion US dollars. The continuous increase in pipeline volume of the NWS project means that the construction of Oman's water distribution network and water supply and drainage facilities is in a period of concentrated promotion. Enterprises that have successfully entered the NWS qualified supplier shortlist have the opportunity to continue participating in the supply of multiple provinces and types of water projects in Oman. Water equipment window opens
The equipment procurement categories for the water distribution network project are clear, and the local water equipment production capacity in Oman is limited. The project equipment heavily relies on imports, bringing matching opportunities for domestic manufacturers. Pipes are the largest category in terms of volume, and the construction of water distribution networks involves main pipes such as ductile iron pipes, PE pipes, HDPE pipes, etc. Oman's water supply network projects usually adopt international standards, which have clear requirements for the corrosion resistance, interface sealing, and service life of pipes. Valves, water meters, and pump station equipment are standard components of the water distribution network. The network requires a large number of gate valves, butterfly valves, pressure reducing valves, intelligent water meters, flow meters, as well as pump units and control systems for the booster pump station and water storage facilities. After the project enters the construction phase, equipment procurement will gradually be released as the pipeline network progresses in sections. There is also a demand for supporting civil engineering materials, waterproof and anti-corrosion materials for water storage facilities, and civil engineering supporting materials such as concrete, waterproof rolls, anti-corrosion coatings, and steel structural components can be purchased simultaneously. This is the stage of receiving the award letter, and the formal contract signing and commencement time have not been disclosed yet. The Oman Water project implements strict international product certification and localization content clauses, and some certification cycles are longer, which will prolong the supply preparation period. The project execution is affected by the supply chain, construction conditions, and funding availability, and there is uncertainty in the pace of equipment procurement.Editor/Gao Xue
