On October 26, 2026, the main construction of the Mengshan Converter Station in Shandong Province began, marking the official entry of the Lu Su Back to Back Networking Project into the construction phase.

As two provinces with the largest domestic economy and electricity consumption, Shandong and Jiangsu lack direct connection channels for their power grids, and have limited room for inter provincial power regulation, which restricts the optimal allocation of cross regional energy resources. According to the plan, the Mengshan converter station is located in Lanling County, Shandong Province, with a designed converter capacity of 3 million kilowatts; The newly built 500 kV transmission line is connected to the Yaohu substation in Jiangsu and the Lanling substation in Shandong, achieving the first connection between Shandong power grid and Jiangsu power grid.

The Mengshan Converter Station is a key construction focus of the Lu Su Back to Back Interconnection Project. In order to ensure the safe and efficient construction of the converter station, State Grid Shandong Electric Power has conducted in-depth special demonstration and system optimization around core links such as foundation treatment and structural seismic resistance, and studied and formulated special measures; Develop and implement a master management plan for buildings and equipment, establish a full process control mechanism from equipment manufacturing to on-site testing and debugging, and ensure that the construction quantity, quality, and duration of the project meet the standards; Based on the characteristics of the red Yimeng region, we will integrate red elements into the exterior of the main control building, actively promote the application of advanced technologies such as the five new technologies of electricity and green, energy-saving, and low-carbon technologies, and strive to create a high-quality benchmark project.Editor/Gong Ziwei
