How much electricity can a hotel kitchen save, and how can a park manage energy consumption? On November 4, 2026, these two issues were placed at the same negotiating table. According to the Tashkent City Government, a delegation led by Chinese enterprise representative Zhu Tong held talks with Eldor Hormatov, the advisor to the Mayor of Tashkent on cooperation with China. Officials from Tashkent's tourism, investment, industry, and trade departments attended. Both sides discussed expanding investment cooperation, developing tourism infrastructure, and introducing catering and industrial technology, with one end connected to a dining table and the other end connected to a factory building.

Calculate the green account first in the kitchen

Both sides discussed strengthening economic and trade ties, attracting investment, and developing hotel and catering services, with a focus on designing modern professional kitchens for hotel restaurants and introducing energy-saving and environmentally friendly equipment. The plan includes low-carbon and waste free kitchen technology, industrial refrigeration systems, and modern baking production lines. Tashkent is promoting cultural tourism, and hotel kitchens are a major energy consumer. The Ukrainian side has provided budget support for the purchase of equipment for newly built hotels; Chinese commercial kitchenware is accelerating its iteration towards green directions such as full electrification and intelligent temperature control. Not only equipment is introduced, but also a logic of calculating energy consumption and waste together.

Discussing Smart Economy Again in the Park

Both sides also discussed the exchange of experience in the development of smart industrial parks and the application of advanced technologies in industrial infrastructure. Tashkent is the largest industrial city in Uzbekistan and has been promoting the construction of smart cities in recent years. It has also expressed the hope to learn from Shenzhen's green and low-carbon experience. The industrial carrier is ready: Yangji Afrode Industrial Zone has been developed by the Chinese side with a master plan, and 51 investment projects have been implemented with a total investment of 913 million US dollars; The Tashkent Agreement of the China Ukraine Local Cooperation Forum also includes the project of intelligent garbage classification equipment. Communication thus has a tangible carrier.

The passage has already been paved

At the end of the talks, both sides expressed their willingness to strengthen practical cooperation between Tashkent and leading manufacturers in Guangdong and Shenzhen, develop joint investment projects, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation. The above intention involves two directions: tourism infrastructure and industrial technology, and the specific investment amount has not been disclosed. At present, the talks are in the stage of docking and communication, and both sides have expressed their willingness to proceed with joint investment projects in the future. The current direct air routes between China and Uzbekistan have achieved normalized operation. As the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent is continuously introducing preferential policies for foreign investment access to the manufacturing and cultural tourism industries, providing cross-border circulation and policy support for project implementation. The passage was not built overnight: Shenzhen and Tashkent signed a memorandum of friendly exchange and cooperation on January 26, 2024, and BYD had previously received an order for 2000 electric buses in the city; The China Ukraine Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement will come into effect on June 1, 2025; On March 30, 2026, Shenzhen opened its first direct flight route to Tashgan in Central Asia, and on May 27, Tashkent to Guangzhou launched a regular direct flight.

The road has been paved, the next step is to see how the joint project will be implemented.Editor/Yang Meiling
