Hunan Construction Engineering signs contract with Bangladesh water project

Bangladesh is an important node of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor along the One Belt and One Road. On March 21, 2021, Hunan Construction Engineering Group and Bangladesh's Rajshahi District Water Supply and Drainage Bureau formally signed the Rajshahi Surface Water Treatment Plant project business contract and the project EPC contract The amount is 325 million U.S. dollars. The main construction contents are water intake, water treatment plant, double ductile iron pipes for water delivery mains, booster pumping station and first and second level water distribution network. The project construction period is 48 months.

The signing was carried out via video connection. Representatives of Bangladesh, the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and Hunan were in video connections in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, the Embassy in Bangladesh, and Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, to jointly witness the signing.

Bangladesh water is a key project of the Belt and Road Initiative

The Rajshahi surface water treatment plant project in Bangladesh is a project included in the list of key projects of the Belt and Road Initiative under the witness of the leaders of the two countries when President Xi Jinping visited Bangladesh in October 2016. It ranks No. 1 in the current list of national livelihood projects. First, it is also the largest preferential export buyer's credit project undertaken by Hunan Province.
