On July 15, 2021, the grid girder on the deck of the Shawei Zuojiang Bridge, the world’s largest-span highway concrete-filled basket arch bridge under construction, was successfully closed, marking the completion of the installation of the steel structure of the main stress system of the bridge and the realization of the main bridge North-south runs through.

The Shawei Zuojiang Bridge is an extra large bridge that crosses the Zuojiang River on the expressway from Wuxu Airport to Long’an in Nanning, Guangxi. The total length of the bridge is 968.5 meters, and the main bridge is 360 meters in length. It adopts a half-through steel tube concrete basket arch bridge design. The width of the main bridge deck is 38.5 meters, and the whole bridge is installed with 29 sections of lattice girder. The maximum lifting weight is the end section, which is 42.8 meters long and 12.4 meters wide. The lattice girder of the whole bridge uses 4,000 tons of steel and is lifted by a cable crane. The north and south banks are installed symmetrically and alternately. After the project is completed and opened to traffic, it will become the world's largest span highway steel tube concrete basket arch bridge, boosting the high-quality development of the local economy.
