On July 18, 2021, the China Railway No. 1005 rectangular shield machine manufactured by China Railway Equipment started smoothly in Guangzhou. China Railway No. 1005 is an engineering "weapon" specially tailored by China Railway Equipment for China Engineering Technology Construction. This equipment will serve the No. 2 entrance and exit of Yuntai Garden Station, Guangzhou Rail Transit Line 11 Project of China Railway First Bureau. The topography of this area is relatively complicated. The northwest is close to the foot of Baiyun Mountain, the southwest is close to Luhu Lake, and the southeast faces the urban area of Guangzhou. The underpass is dominated by silty clay and sandy clay, and the jacking distance is 57.5 meters. The Guangyuan Road above the tunnel is The main traffic roads in Guangzhou have a large traffic volume, high requirements for land subsidence control, and difficult construction.

"China Railway No. 1005" rectangular shield machine is 6.02 meters wide, 4.32 meters high, and weighs 250 tons. The whole machine adopts the combined excavation design of three fronts and three rears with multiple cutter heads, and the excavation rate reaches 92%. The equipment will continue to serve the Guangzhou Metro project in the future. It is understood that under the same cross-sectional area, the tunnel constructed by the rectangular shield machine can effectively save the useless excavation area than the circular tunnel.
